 What’s Trending in Home Design   Kitchens Are Moving Past White—Color Is the New Neutral  “White kitchen cabinets had a great run, but we’re seeing a real shift. Homeowners today want more personality and warmth in their  kitchens, and color is becoming the new neutral.”  One of the standout colors in Boardwalk Building Company’s latest homes is Breezy by Sherwin-Williams—a soft, blue-green that  feels fresh, calming, and grounded all at once.  “We just used Breezy in a custom kitchen, and it completely transformed the space. It’s subtle enough to act like a neutral, but it  brings so much more character and emotion than white ever could. It makes the kitchen feel calm, clean, and connected to nature.”  As a designer-builder, Michele considers how color interacts with light, flow, and materials—making sure it works both visually and  emotionally. Breezy is especially effective in homes with lots of natural light, where it seems to shift slightly throughout the day,  adding depth and life.  “We paired it with soft white quartz, stainless steel and white oak flooring to create that layered, lived-in feeling. Homeowners are  drawn to earthy, organic palettes—because they add depth, and character to a space. .”  The overall shift? Design that feels like home, not a showroom. Soft colors, clean woods, and balanced contrasts are redefining  what a “modern kitchen” looks like in 2025.
